About Us

Group Island Spirit has been operating in various capacities for over 20 years. The company started yacht manufacturing in Thailand in 2011 and launched our first Island Spirit 380 sailing catamaran in 2012.

In 2017, the company merged with a small charter operator in the Gulf of Thailand to add charter bases in Koh Chang and Koh Samui and the sailing school operated from Ocean Marina Yacht Club near Pattaya.  In 2019, the company purchased Elite Yachting in Phuket.

Now the company is the largest charter operator in Thailand and the only charter operator offering three destinations. In October 2019, the company expanded the sailing school to include Phuket as a second school destination. This positioned Island Spirit Sailing School as the largest sailing school in Thailand and the only sailing school offering courses in Phuket and Pattaya.

For many years the company was producing Island Spirit catamarans in it’s own factory in Thailand until 2017. From 2017 to 2020 the company was outsourcing the manufacturing. To maintain production quality and timely product delivery, the company purchased Austhai Marine in August 2020.

This gave the company a dedicated manufacturing facility for Island Spirit Sailing catamarans as well as the highly successful Austhai line of commercial power catamarans. The company has delivered well over 100 boats to date and has exported vessels to 11 countries.

Island Spirit is poised to continue to expand through the introduction of power and sailing catamaran models and, in 2022 and 2023, will see the launch of the company’s first fully electric product offerings. The company will also continue to expand its charter and school destinations through partnerships and acquisitions as the world recovers from the COVID pandemic.

Our newest acquisition, Bat-O-Bleu, is our first charter destination outside of Thailand, offering bareboat and luxury crewed yacht charters in the Seychelles. We’ll soon be adding a sailing school and yacht brokerage there too.

Be sure to stop by and see us, get out sailing and Live the Dream!

Manufacturing

With years of design and manufacturing experience, we produce Island Spirit Catamarans in Thailand to provide our customers with the most competitive pricing while maintaining our highest commitment to quality. We are one of a very small handful of manufacturers in southeast asia that is building production boats to international CE standards. We also make sure all of our products are using major internationally recognized component brands such as: Yanmar, Selden, Simrad, B&G, Vetus and many others. This insures that our clients can easily source replacement parts for their vessels when needed.

Our manufacturing organization puts each catamaran through a quality inspection to meet the CE standards and a sea trial to ensure each purchased boat is built and delivered to the highest possible quality.

On the sailing boat side of the business, we are dedicated to building high-quality sailing catamarans that will compete on the world market. Being more of a boutique builder we also offer our customers much more flexibility in customizing their catamaran for their specific needs than available from the big French catamaran manufacturers. For the commercial catamarans, these are all built to exacting custom requirements. Very seldom is there two boats that are the same, but, our philosophy is that for these commercial workboats, they need to be built to optimize the return on the asset investment for the customer.  What that means is we go though a detailed information gathering process from our customers such that we may lend our years or expertise to be able to deliver the most appropriate product to optimize their business.

We constantly strive to not only maintain but also improve the integrity of the Island Spirit brand.
